A Night to Remember: A Unique First Degree Initiation, Fellowship, and Festive Carvery!

Every now and then, a lodge experiences a meeting so memorable, so full of spirit, and so wonderfully Masonic that it deserves to be recorded in our history. Our most recent meeting was exactly that — a night overflowing with symbolism, celebration, camaraderie, and a healthy dose of light-hearted lodge humour.

A Father Begins His Journey… Guided by His Son

The evening began with a moment that touched every brother present: a Fellowcraft son proudly introducing his father to the Craft. To witness the passing of Masonic light from son to father — reversing the traditional order — was deeply moving and one of those rare occasions that remind us how beautifully Masonry can weave into family life.

The room was filled with anticipation and a genuine sense of privilege as the candidate took his first steps. The energy was different — warm, affectionate, and full of pride. Many brethren commented afterwards that it was one of the most special initiations they had ever seen.

A Worshipful Master at His Absolute Best

Our Worshipful Master deserves every bit of praise for delivering what can only be described as a masterclass in ritual. Every word was precise, every movement exact, and his delivery of the Charge was word perfect — genuinely so. Those present witnessed ritual performed with grace, confidence, and heartfelt sincerity.

It was clear to all that he had prepared meticulously, but more importantly, he led the lodge with calm authority, ensuring the entire ceremony flowed naturally and beautifully.

A Distinguished Visit from the Metropolitan Grand Inspectorate

Adding to the significance of the night, we had the pleasure of welcoming the Metropolitan Grand Inspector and his team of stewards. Their presence brought a sense of honour and dignity to the room, and their good humour blended perfectly with the warm, lively spirit of the evening.

Their guidance, encouragement, and cheerful engagement with the brethren made the occasion even more memorable — a perfect balance of formality and fun.

The Great St Ambrose Raid — Again!

No evening would be complete without some friendly lodge rivalry, and St Ambrose did exactly what we expected… They raided us (with big smiles) for the Tim Springs Inspectorate Travellers Cup!

Their visit, full of laughter and brotherly banter, lifted the entire room. Their enthusiasm is contagious, and it’s always a pleasure to have them with us. If you’re going to lose a trophy, you might as well lose it to friends who take it with charm and good humour!

A Festive Board Filled with Joy, Laughter & Our Legendary Carvery

The festive board was the perfect ending to a perfect night. Conversations flowed, laughter echoed, and the atmosphere was alive with genuine fellowship. Toasts were delivered with warmth, good spirits, and the occasional gentle tease.

And, of course, our famous carvery delivered once again — plates were overflowing, and many brethren found themselves going back for “strictly Masonic” seconds. The room buzzed with the easy camaraderie that only a good meal and good company can create.

Strengthening Bonds Through the Catalyst Programme

In an exciting development, St Ambrose Lodge officially joined us in the Catalyst Programme — a fantastic initiative designed to bring lodges closer together, share knowledge, and support each other’s growth.

As part of this commitment, our Worshipful Master will be joining St Ambrose in December to assist during their Installation — another opportunity for collaboration, friendship, and strengthening the ties between our lodges. It’s a brilliant example of how we continue to support each other across the Metropolitan area.

A Perfect Night Worth Celebrating

From the touching father-and-son initiation, to the impeccable ritual, the distinguished visitors, the lively trophy “heist,” and a festive board bursting with joy — this meeting showcased the very best of Freemasonry.

It was a night of warmth.
A night of precision.
A night of unity.
A night of laughter.
And above all, a night of brotherhood.

Here’s to many more evenings that remind us why we love the Craft.

Written with pride, joy, and a very satisfied appetite.
